How do I verify my identity? (individual)

The purpose of this article is to provide royalty owners with a step-by-step guide on how to go through the identity verification process.

Note: these instructions are for owners who's operator have enabled our ID Verification service to allow owners to self-manage their Direct Deposit or Address Change settings.

Step 1: Access Payment Settings

  • First make sure you are signed in to MineralAnswers.com.

  • Click your name in the top right corner of the screen.

  • Select Payment Settings from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Start Identity Verification

On the Payment Settings page, click the blue and white button labeled Start Your Identity Verification.

Step 3: Begin verifying

You can now click Begin Verification.
Our verification process uses a third party, trusted service for secure identity verification.

Step 4: Verify Your Identity

  • Select your country from the dropdown menu.

  • Choose the type of photo ID you want to upload.

Step 5: Photos

Note: If your computer doesn’t have a camera or you don't have a photo ID on your computer, you can choose to continue on another device and you can use a QR code, email, or text to continue the process on another device.

  1. Use your computer's camera to take a picture of your ID, or upload an existing photo. (Your browser may ask for permission to use your camera. Click Allow.)

  2. Align your ID with the camera and click Take Photo.
    ​If you aren’t happy with the photo, you can always retake it.

Step 6: Complete Biometric Verification

  • Use your camera to complete a biometric reading of your face by turning your head

  • Follow on screen instructions: Look into the camera and slowly turn head left, pause, then right. If it doesn't work, try removing your glasses.

Step 7: Who is doing the verification?

Individuals, Trusts and Businesses have slightly different information that needs to be submitted. Choose the Individual option.

Step 8: Your information

Enter your personal information and click Continue.

Verification complete

Congratulations! Now that verification is complete, you can click Done and you will be taken back to your payment settings page.

If your verification is declined - contact us so we can take a look and reset your account if necessary, so you can try again.
